The official qualifying period for SEA Games 2025 runs from 1 March 2025 to 5 September 2025. During this time, athletes must meet all selection requirements, including performance benchmarks in sanctioned competitions, training attendance, and assessments.
✔ Meet the eligibility criteria – Singapore Citizen, aged 17-45, with no dual citizenship if above 22 years old.
✔ Commit to rigorous training – Maintain a minimum 85% attendance at national training and participate in all required trials and camps.
✔ Prove your excellence – Achieve top rankings in international competitions or outperform medalists from previous major games.
✔ Showcase discipline and character – Uphold the values of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship in and out of the arena.

1. Who is required to register for the national selection trials?
All senior athletes are expected to register for the national selection trials.
2. What is the deadline for registration, and are late submissions allowed?
The final registration deadline is Sunday, 30 March 2025. No late submissions will be accepted under any circumstances.
3. What are the rules regarding weight categories for the trials?
Athletes must compete in the weight category they registered for. No changes will be permitted after 30 March 2025. Failure to make the registered weight will result in disqualification. Athletes will be allowed to strip during the weigh-in to meet the weight requirement.
4. Can athletes change their weight class?
Yes, athletes are allowed to change their weight class before registration closes on 30 March 2025, no further changes will be allowed.
5. What should an athlete do if they are unable to attend the trials?
Athletes who are unable to attend the trials due to valid reasons must submit supporting documents. These cases will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
6. When will the SEA Games event categories be confirmed?
The confirmed event categories is as follows: -

Class U45 (45kg and below)
Class A (45-50kg)

7. How will the trial results be used in team selection?
Results from the national selection trials will determine the composition of the following teams:
• 1st Team
• 2nd Team
* SEA Games Selection is by Singapore National Olympics Council (SNOC).
8. What is the highest level of competition this year?
The Asian Championship, tentatively scheduled for July 2025, will be the highest level of competition for the year.
9. Are athletes allowed to switch classes after the trials for SEA Games 25-related events?
No. Athletes must compete in the same class as they did in the trials for all SEA Games 2025 data point events.
For example, if an athlete competed in Class A during the trials, they must continue to compete in Class A for all subsequent SEA Games 2025 qualifying events.
10. Can data points be transferred between classes?
No. Only data points earned in the actual weight class will be valid for SEA Games 2025 qualification.
For instance, data from competing in Class A cannot be used for Class B, even if an athlete switches class later.
11. Will there be any exceptions to class eligibility?
Unless there are major changes to the SEA Games 2025 event classes or under specific circumstances that requires review, the High Performance (HP) team may call for a review of class eligibility. Otherwise, class assignments from the trials will remain fixed.
12. Was there be a briefing on the athlete pathway?
Yes, a briefing was conducted on 20 March 2025 at OCBC Arena Hall 4.
